SOUTHDALE COMMUNITY CENTRE - Soft Reopening June 1, 2020.
May 28, 2020 - Update to the Community re: Southdale CC COVID Reopening Plan
In light of the release of Manitoba's Restoring Safe Services Phase 2, Southdale CC is implementing a cautious reopening plan for June 1, 2020. As we establish new protocols and procedures, safety of our participants and staff is of utmost importance. During Phase 2, ice rentals are not open to non-monitored user groups with no staff. Southdale is partnering with Laker Hockey Academy to operate on reduced hours with an efficient scheduling system that will be consistent and maintain provincial regulations. There are no spectators allowed. Anyone needing to attend the centre must arrange with management in advance. As we approach Phase 3 and the potential relaxation of restrictions, we will have a chance to evaluate the facility operation, possibly expanding hours and user group access for ice rentals and other programming. Absolutely no scrimmages or battle drills will be allowed until the government loosens the social distancing requirements.

Refunds for all sports, be it voluntary or due to season cancellation, will be processed through the same third party registration system. Amended COVID-19 Refund Policy below.
Southdale Spring 2020 COVID-19 Refund Information:
With the unprecedented circumstance we face as a community, the SRA Board of Directors has waived the majority of the Registration/Refund Policy as outlined in the SRA Policy Manual. Part of this policy states that the Laker Fee (charged to cover admin costs) is non-refundable. It was a very difficult decision to look at the best interest of our community in a situation well out of their control while balancing the financial demands of the online registration system utilized. As a non-profit organization struggling in this time like many others, the Board has decided to refund any portion of each registrant's Laker Fee over $10. While the $10 per registrant will not cover the full amount of registration system admin fees to the centre, it will assist to offset the cost with the goal of not having to increase future sport registration fees for costs related to this pandemic.
Manitoba Soccer Association Update (May 28, 2020)
MSA has gone through the process of receiving feedback from our members, Canada Soccer and numerous other sports organizations across the country to develop our Return to Participation protocols. The protocols have been approved by MSA Board of Directors. The next step is to have the protocols approved by Soccer Canada and provincial health authorities. We are in the process of getting these approvals.
We have committed to provide all of our members with a two week window before sanctioned in-person soccer participation can resume in order to give our membership time to prepare fields, register participants, meet the requirements of the protocols and give parents and players information to also prepare.
